Physiotherapy for Ankylosing Spondylitis

Despite having a diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis your pain may arise from other issues. Adapted posture, too little activity,  muscle tightness or  joint restriction may all irritate soft tissues. A physiotherapy assessment will help clarify your impairments, disabilities, and what your goals are for treatment. I can help with advice based on many years of study, research, and clinical treatment in this area. Some of the techniques I use involve retraining your sitting posture and movement patterns to take strain off your painful areas. Gentle movement stretches help you to increase your range of motion and improve your function. I can also let you know about new medications and the importance of seeing a Rheumatologist if you have not already done so.

The Arthritis and Osteoporosis Centre runs programs  to educate individuals about their Ankylosing Spondylitis pathology. They also provide up-to-date information on effective ways to manage your condition. Limited places so booking is essential.
